BORN IN LA. RAISED IN TOKYO.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1991, XLARGE grew from the intersection of streetwear, workwear, music, art, and skate culture. A year later, XLARGE arrived in Tokyo, beginning a new chapter in the brand’s history.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

It all began in November 1991, when the first XLARGE STORE opened on Vermont Avenue, LA. Founded by architectural school graduates Eli Bonerz and Adam Silverman, the store became part of a new street culture emerging from 1990s Los Angeles. Together with Mike D of the Beastie Boys, Eli and Adam gave XLARGE a strong cultural identity rooted in skateboarding, music, and the streets of LA.

WORKWEAR GOES STREET

From the beginning, workwear was part of XLARGE. The original store carried blue-collar uniforms alongside fashion — an unusual idea in the early 1990s. Function, durability and everyday utility became part of the XLARGE approach to streetwear. That idea continues today.

XLARGE JAPAN

Not long after its beginning in Los Angeles, XLARGE began building its presence in Japan.

Over the decades that followed, the brand grew here — through different generations, changes in streetwear, and changes within XLARGE itself.

Japan did not replace the brand's Los Angeles identity.

It became an important part of how XLARGE grew.

LA Roots. Japanese Vision.

LA ROOTS. JAPANESE Craft.

Today, XLARGE brings these two sides of its story together.

The attitude and cultural roots of Los Angeles.

The craftmanship and direction shaped through decades in Japan.

Not as a finished brand looking back at its history, but as a brand still moving forward.
